Women's snowboard: some tips for a successful purchase

The choice of a women's snowboard depends on several essential criteria. Here are some guidelines to help you choose well:

The program

  • All mountain: versatile for carving on piste, park, or freeride.
  • Freestyle: perfect for the snowpark, with a twin tip shape, pop, and tolerance.
  • Freeride: ideal for powder with a directional pintail shape.

The size

Adapt your board size to your height, weight, and program. Thanks to reverse cambers, boards can be shorter and more maneuverable.

Height Weight Freeride Freestyle Versatile
> 1.80 m > 65 kg 160 – 163 cm 155 – 157 cm 155 – 157 cm
1.70 – 1.80 m 60 – 65 kg 155 – 160 cm 150 – 155 cm 150 – 155 cm
1.60 – 1.75 m 55 – 60 kg 150 – 155 cm 145 – 150 cm 145 – 150 cm
1.50 – 1.60 m 50 – 55 kg 145 – 150 cm 140 – 145 cm 140 – 145 cm
< 1.50 m < 50 kg 140 – 150 cm 140 – 143 cm 140 – 143 cm

Different snowboard cambers

The camber influences the board's behavior. Here are the main profiles:

Classic camber

The classic camber (or traditional snowboard camber) forms an upward arc. It offers:

  • Stability and precision
  • Powerful pop
  • Grip on hard snow

Less forgiving, it is recommended for experienced riders.

Reverse camber

The reverse camber (or rocker) is concave in the center, with raised tips. It brings:

  • Manoeuvrability
  • Flotation in powder
  • Tolerance to limit edge mistakes

Less stable at high speed.

Flat camber

The flat camber (or flat profile) is completely neutral. It combines:

  • Stability and responsiveness
  • Good grip
  • Versatility

W camber (hybrid)

The W camber (or hybrid camber) alternates classic camber under the feet and rockers at the tips:

  • Pop and responsiveness
  • Increased tolerance
  • Flotation in powder

Camber + rocker (Camrock)

The Camrock combines a central camber and rocker tips:

  • Good grip
  • Easy turning
  • Good versatility

Which camber to choose?

  • Beginner: reverse or flat camber
  • Advanced: classic or hybrid camber
  • Powder snow: prefer rocker
  • Hard snow: opt for classic camber
