A snowboard package is the combination of a snowboard and snowboard bindings.
Here are some tips to successfully purchase your snowboard package RossignolSalomonHead.

Men's snowboard: some tips for a successful purchase

The choice of a men's snowboard depends on several essential criteria. Here are some guidelines to help you choose well:

The program

  • All mountain: versatile boards, comfortable for carving on piste, in the park, or freeriding.
The all mountain freestyle are ideal if you want a playful board to start jumping as soon as possible.
The all mountain freeride, with a directional shape, offer better grip and flotation on all terrains.
  • Freestyle: perfect if you spend most of your time in the snowpark. Look for a twin tip (symmetrical) board, with pop to throw tricks and tolerance for better landings.
  • Freeride: if you love off-piste riding, you need a board with a directional pintail shape, offering more flotation in deep snow and less muscle fatigue.

The size

There is no magic formula: the board size depends on your height, your weight, and your program. The current trend favors shorter boards, notably thanks to reverse cambers which improve maneuverability.

  • For a freestyle rider 180 cm tall and weighing 70 kg, a board around 156 cm is recommended.
  • For lighter builds: around 150 cm.
  • For heavier builds: around 163 cm.
  • For freeride in powder: at least 165 cm (for example the Duparz D1).

Different snowboard cambers

The camber strongly influences the behavior of your board. Here is a simplified presentation of the main profiles:

Classic camber

The classic camber (or traditional snowboard camber) forms an upward arc. It provides:

  • Stability and precision
  • Powerful pop
  • Grip on hard snow

Less forgiving, it is more suitable for experienced riders. Example: Burton CustomX.

Reverse camber

The reverse camber (or rocker) is concave in the center, with raised tips. It offers:

  • Manoeuvrability and ease in turns
  • Flotation in powder
  • Tolerance to avoid edge mistakes

Less stable at high speed. Example: Lib Tech Skate Banana.

Flat camber

The flat camber (or flat profile) is neutral, between classic and reverse. It offers:

  • Stability and responsiveness
  • Good grip
  • Versatility for piste, park and powder

W camber (hybrid)

The W camber (or hybrid camber, Flying V) combines camber under the feet and rockers at the tips. It ensures:

  • Responsiveness and pop
  • Playfulness and tolerance
  • Flotation in deep snow

Examples: Burton Custom, Burton Process Flying V.

Camber + rocker (Camrock)

The Camrock is a mix: camber between the feet, rocker in nose and tail. It brings:

  • Grip in the center
  • Maneuverability in turns
  • Versatility for freestyle and powder

Examples: K2 Alchemist and K2 Manifest.

Choosing the right camber

  • Level: beginners prefer reverse or flat camber. Experts go for classic camber.
  • Riding style: for freestyle, prefer reverse. For freeride, classic or hybrid camber is best.
  • Conditions: for powder, opt for rocker. On hard snow, classic is more effective.
