Which size to choose for your ski boots?
Finding the right size is essential to ensure comfort and performance. The Mondopoint (MP) measurement, expressed in centimeters, is the reference for choosing your women's ski boots. Measure your bare foot, then add 0.5 cm to get your ideal size.
For example, a 24 cm foot corresponds to a 24.5 MP boot. When trying on, your toes should lightly touch the front of the shell when standing straight. When bending your knees, your heel moves slightly back, ensuring optimal support. This sensation may be surprising at first, especially if you are used to regular shoes, but it is essential for good ski control.
Choose the right volume for optimal comfort
Women's ski boots come in several volumes to fit the foot shape:
- LV (Low Volume): between 92 and 98 mm, perfect for narrow feet or very snug support.
- MV (Mid Volume): between 99 and 100 mm, suitable for most female skiers.
- HV (High Volume): up to 104 mm, ideal for wider feet or to maximize comfort.
Volume plays a crucial role: boots that are too wide reduce precision, while boots that are too tight create pressure points and pain.
Flexibility and skill level
The flex index determines the stiffness of the boot. It must correspond to your technical level and style:
- Flex from 50 to 70: for beginner to intermediate female skiers.
- Flex from 80 to 100: for intermediate to advanced female skiers.
- Flex from 100 to 120: for advanced and expert female skiers.
A boot that is too stiff can be difficult to control for a beginner, while a too soft flex limits power transmission for an experienced skier. The right balance ensures responsiveness, comfort, and safety.
